The book “Hun Wu Fu Zao Hen—Dialogue with Qi Baishi: A Research Collection on the Beijing Academy of Painting’s Collection Exhibition” includes all the artworks featured in this exhibition as well as scholarly essays on Qi Baishi. The book is divided into three parts: The first part, “Works,” presents Qi Baishi’s artistic journey through three distinct phases—“Xue Ge Tong Gan Dan,” “Bian Fa Jie Ling Qi,” and “Shen Si Tian Ran Qu”—each highlighting the profound influence of Bada Shanren on Qi Baishi throughout his entire career. The second part, “Essays,” gathers academic research on Qi Baishi, Bada Shanren, and the influential connections between them, including works such as Wang Fangyu’s “The Influence of Bada Shanren on Qi Baishi,” Fu Shen’s “Baishi and Xue Ge Share the Same Heart and Gall—On Bada Shanren’s Influence on Qi Baishi,” Wang Zhende’s “A Brief Discussion on Bada Shanren’s Influence on Qi Baishi,” and Xue Yongnian’s “Beyond Representation: Cultural Accumulation in Qi Baishi’s Use of Literary Allusions.” The third part, “Qi Baishi’s Life,” chronicles how Qi Baishi rose from being a carpenter to becoming an artistic giant. The publication of “Hun Wu Fu Zao Hen” serves as a continuation and systematic compilation of the research conducted for this exhibition, and it also lays a solid foundation for future studies in this field.
