1. Promote low-carbon travel and encourage off-peak grave-sweeping activities.

During the Qingming Festival, there will be a high concentration of people and vehicles. We encourage everyone to make reservations and stagger their visits to pay respects at gravesites. Please plan your travel arrangements and timing carefully, and try to use public transportation whenever possible, avoiding peak hours as much as you can. During your visit, please follow the guidance of staff members, minimize lingering, avoid gatherings, and ensure that the memorial activities proceed smoothly and in an orderly manner.

II. Promote green and environmentally friendly, civilized grave-sweeping practices.

During the Qingming Festival, we honor our departed loved ones, and our heartfelt remembrance lies deep within our hearts. We encourage adopting civilized and low-carbon mourning practices—such as offering fresh flowers, planting trees and greening spaces, taking leisurely spring outings to pay respects from afar, conducting online memorial ceremonies, and holding family remembrances—to commemorate the deceased and express our grief. We also encourage participation in reading out family letters. Activities such as the “Time Capsule Mailbox” and “Ribbons of Remembrance” shift the focus from physical, on-site grave-sweeping to the spiritual and cultural legacy of the deceased, enriching the meaning of the Qingming Festival and fostering a green, low-carbon atmosphere.

3. Use fire with caution and promote safe grave-sweeping practices.

“Forest fire prevention is everyone’s responsibility.” “A single spark can destroy tens of thousands of acres of forest.” Fire used for祭祀 (ancestral rites) easily triggers forest fires. Let’s all strengthen our safety awareness and legal consciousness, strictly abide by the “Jiangxi Province Forest Fire Prevention Regulations,” refrain from bringing flammable and explosive items or sources of ignition into forests and woodlands, and avoid using fire illegally in forested areas.

4. Prioritize life above all else and firmly establish the safety bottom line.

Forest fires are sudden and highly dangerous to extinguish. If you spot a forest fire, please immediately call the forest fire emergency hotline. 12119: Untrained, non-professional personnel should not attempt to fight the fire blindly. When a forest fire poses a threat to personal safety and the safety of your home, promptly evacuate to a safe location and do not return home on your own.

V. Inherit fine virtues and deepen funeral reform.

It is better to care for the elderly generously while they are still alive than to lavish offerings after they have passed away. We must vigorously promote the traditional virtues of respecting the elderly and filial piety, and foster a value orientation that emphasizes caring deeply for the elderly during their lifetime rather than indulging in extravagant funerals. While our elders are still with us, we should spend more time with them and consistently show them our respect and gratitude; after they pass away, we should avoid ostentatious ceremonies and wasteful expenditures. All Party members and cadres should set an example by leading the way in conducting funerals in a civilized and frugal manner, adopting eco-friendly burial practices, and engaging in green, civilized, and economical grave-sweeping activities—thus promoting a new ethos of funeral practices that is environmentally friendly, civilized, and thrifty.
