The special exhibition “Jinshi·Zen Heart—Works by Wu Changshuo from the Collection of the National Art Museum of China,” jointly organized by the National Art Museum of China and the Eight Great Masters Memorial Hall, has been widely loved by visitors and received high praise from all sectors since its opening on April 29. Over the past two months, the number of on-site visitors has exceeded 140,000, with more than 60,000 visitors welcomed during the May Day holiday. In light of the enthusiastic response from audiences, the exhibition’s closing date has been extended from the originally scheduled July 9 to August 13.

The exhibition features authentic works by Wu Changshuo. A total of 66 items are featured, including two works by Wu Changshuo from the collection of the Eight Great Mountain People Memorial Hall and 46 pieces of documentary materials. Organized into three major sections—“Xue Ge Dreams, Painting Zen Conveys Intent,” “Poetry Has Its Own Charm, Principles Remain Consistent,” and “Creating My Own Style, Passing on the Legacy Through Metal and Stone”—the exhibition presents a multidimensional dialogue between the works of these two artistic masters through poetry, calligraphy, painting, and seal carving, offering a vivid and comprehensive portrayal of the artistic worlds of the Eight Great Mountain People and Wu Changshuo.

 

 

A national seminar will be held during the exhibition. One keynote lecture, two academic seminars, 45 various public education activities, 27 live guided tours of the exhibition halls, and 150 volunteer-led special exhibitions for “Little Pinecones.” These diverse formats not only offer multi-dimensional interpretations and insights into the exhibition content, providing visitors with an enjoyable and educational viewing experience, but also significantly enhance the scholarly depth of the exhibition, lending it stronger academic support.

 

 

 

 

The exhibition has attracted intense attention and high praise from media across various sectors, with media coverage that is both extensive and highly targeted. As of now, national-level media have reported on it... 15 times; provincial media reported a total of 15 times; municipal media reported a total of 12 times.

 

 

 

As a national first-class museum, the Eight Great Mountains Man Memorial Hall adheres to benchmarking standards. The development philosophy of “first-class institutions hosting first-class exhibitions.” This year, the Ba Da Shanren Memorial Hall has planned a series of exhibition activities, including the inaugural Ba Da Shanren Freehand Painting Inheritance Nomination Exhibition (tentative title). The “Ba Da Shanren Dialogue” series of exhibitions features Wu Changshuo: “Jinshi·Zen Heart—A Special Exhibition of Wu Changshuo’s Works from the Collection of the National Art Museum of China” is part of this series.
