Six mooncakes, among which the deer-themed mooncake is inspired by the “Portrait of a Longevity Deer” scroll from the collection of the Eight Great Mountains Man Memorial Museum. In the painting, the deer’s four legs are still uncertain in their stance; it turns its head and gazes upward with alert eyes. Its posture is graceful yet conveys a sense of tension—a perfect blend of form and spirit, capturing the essence through its outward appearance. The deer’s form is rendered using ink shades of varying intensity, with a lustrous ink tone that vividly showcases the extraordinary artistic skill of the Eight Great Mountains Man, whose style reaches a sublime simplicity and natural innocence.
