Peng Youshan's Chronicle
Born in Yugan County, Jiangxi Province on the third day of the seventh lunar month in 1911.
In 1922, he went to Shanghai to study with his eldest brother Youren and second brother Youxian, and was admitted to Shanghai West District Primary School.
He graduated from high school in 1925 and was admitted to Yugan Private Junior Yuting Middle School.
In 1927, he transferred to Poyang Pottery School and studied under Fan Jiong, the son of Fan Jinyong, a painter of the Qing Dynasty.
In the summer of 1928, he graduated from the pottery school, and married Sheng Aixiang, a peasant girl, according to his grandfather's order.
In 1929, the second elder brother went to France, and You Shan and the elder brother went to Hangzhou.
In the spring of 1931, Da Ge and You Shan visited Mr. Xu Beihong with their paintings "Refugees Journey" and "Self-Portrait". Xu Beihong wrote a poem on "Refugees Picture".
In the spring of 1933, he studied in the Painting Department of Wuchang Art College, and was appreciated by the principal Tang Yijing. During the winter vacation, he held a "Winter Painting Exhibition" in Hankou with He Zhipei and his second brother, and participated in the exhibition of "Nightmare" and "Amphibious".
In the autumn of 1934, he graduated from the Painting Department of Wuchang Art College, and returned to Jiangxi to serve as a drawing instructor in the Department of Education; he officially divorced Sheng Aixiang.
In 1935, he made paintings such as "The God of Nature", "The World of Great Harmony", "Heroes and Beauty", and brought his mother, aunt, and eldest niece to Nanchang. In the second half of the year, his second brother Youxian returned to work in Nanchang.
In the early spring of 1936, he began to create "Same Boat and Help Together", which took eight months; during this period, he also painted "Hedge Chrysanthemum Roosting Chicken", "Monk Carrying Water", "Small Sellers" and so on; concurrently served as the chairman of Jiangxi Provincial Fine Arts Committee.
In April 1937, the second national art exhibition was held in Nanjing, and Youshan was selected for four paintings, namely "Nightmare", "Datong World", "Huaqing Pool" and "Mate". He was one of the first members and one of the first members; after the "July 7" incident, he was the head of the picture propaganda group of the Jiangxi Party, Government and Army Anti-Enemy Support Association, and the chairman of the Nanchang Anti-Enemy Painting Research Association.
His mother died of illness in 1938; he made large-scale anti-Japanese propaganda posters "Last Victory Picture" and "Su Wu Shepherd Picture".
In 1939, it moved to Taihe Shangtian Village with the Department of Education.
In 1940, he and Hu Xianya co-organized the painting exhibition of "Charity Sale" in Ganzhou, and all the proceeds from the sale of paintings were donated to the Anti-Japanese War.
In 1941, he concurrently served as the chairman of the second special committee of the Three People's Principles Movement Committee, the art instructor of the Jiangxi Experimental Kindergarten Normal School, and founded the amateur art cram school (the predecessor of Lifeng Art College); served as the art commissioner of the second group of the cultural design committee of the third war zone; Published "Ten Laws of Modern Painting" and "The Art of Building the Three People's Principles" in "Frontline Daily"; held a second art exhibition in Shangrao Folk Education Museum and Wangjiayuan.
In 1943, he held a friendship painting exhibition with Pan Tianshou, Yu Jianhua, and Xie Haiyan in Jianyang; due to the cancellation of the Cultural Design Committee of the Third War Zone, he returned to his hometown to organize Yugan County Middle School and served as the school director.
In 1944, he went to Shangrao to serve as the artistic team leader of the Cultural Sports Committee of the Third War Zone; he made 50 large tiger paintings, and held the "Hundred Tiger Painting Exhibition" with his second brother in Shangrao.
In January 1945, he was transferred to the southeast branch of the Central Training Corps as an art officer and instructor, with Wang Wei as the head of the regiment; on September 4, he married Wu Huisheng. In the second half of the year, he was invited by Chen Heqin, the principal of Guangchang National Kindergarten Teachers College, to serve as an associate professor of the school; he made color ink paintings "All People Joyfully Celebrate Peace", "Zouyu" and "Serving the Country with Loyalty".
In 1946, he served as a lecturer at the Lushan Summer Academic Seminar and held a personal art exhibition. He met Marshall, the special envoy of the United States. Went to Nanjing to paint "The Picture of White Sparrow" for Marshall, and served as the art team leader and art instructor of the training class for the news staff of the Ministry of National Defense.
In 1947, he served as the second art commissioner of the Information Bureau of the Ministry of National Defense; the Ministry of National Defense awarded the "Victory Medal" for the "Same Boat in the Same Boat". Introduced by Ma Bi to worship Qi Baishi as his teacher; he also made many "Pictures of White Sparrows".
In May 1949, Yugan was liberated, and in June he became the vice principal of Yugan United Middle School.
In March 1950, Tiao Jingdezhen Pottery College served as the leader of the five-person leadership group, concurrently as a professor, vice chairman of the Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and chairman of the Municipal Artists Association; Xia was introduced by Xu Deyuan to join the China Democratic League. The painting "Long Live Peace" participated in the first Jiangxi Art Exhibition after liberation.
In 1951, he was transferred to Jiangxi Provincial Pictorial Agency; as "Little Chicken", he participated in the first national art exhibition after liberation.
In 1952, he made an oil painting "Fang Zhimin's Attack on Lacquer Town"; in November, he was transferred to study in the political research class of Zhongyuan University in Wuchang.
In July 1953, transferred to Nanchang University as a professor of art department, concurrently served as the vice chairman of Jiangxi Artists Association; made a color ink painting "Victory of Lacquer Town Riot".
In 1954, he took part in the Second National Art Exhibition with "Victory Picture of Lacquer Town Riot"; participated in the second Jiangxi Provincial Art Exhibition with color ink painting "Lovely China" and won the first prize; ".
In February 1955, he was seconded to the Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall to form an oil painting creation group with Wu Qi, Tang Zhiyun, He Qitao, etc., and served as the group leader; he visited Shanghai, Hangzhou, Pingjiang and other places; in May, he began drafting the large-scale oil painting "Eternal Life".
In May 1956, he was elected as a member of the first Jiangxi Provincial Political Consultative Conference and a director of the Jiangxi Provincial Artists Association; he made a color ink painting "Peng Huang Pingjiang Uprising" for the General Political Department of the PLA Military Commission
In July 1957, "Eternal Life" and "Peng Huang Pingjiang Uprising Map" were completed successively; in the same month, he was classified as an "extreme rightist", and was punished by a one-level salary reduction and a serious warning in the league; in the same year, his wife Wu Huisheng was also classified as a rightist at Wuhan University molecular.
After the Ching Ming Festival in 1961, he was transferred back to Jiangxi Normal University; in Xia, he was seconded to the Memorial Hall of Revolutionary Martyrs to make oil paintings "Representative of Chairman Mao Comes to Ruijin" and "Gao Hunao Fight".
In September 1962, he returned to Jiangxi Normal University to take off his rightist hat, and resumed teaching, taking courses in sketching, anatomy, perspective, art appreciation, Chinese painting, etc.; participated in the third representative meeting of Jiangxi literary and art circles.
In the summer of 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" began; "August 11" was a disaster, and most of the paintings over the years were confiscated. After the "Peng Youshan Black Painting Exhibition" was held in Jiangxi Teachers College, all the paintings were lost.
In the spring of 1969, he moved to Jiangxi Teachers College and changed its name to Jinggangshan University. He participated in labor in a friendly manner, and taught sketching and art appreciation courses for workers, peasants and soldiers.
In 1972, the task force of Jinggangshan University made a conclusion for friendship and declared liberation.
In March 1973, he was seconded to the Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall to reproduce the oil painting "Eternal Life", which was completed in May.
In August 1979, the conclusions of the rightists were corrected. Color ink painting "The Rooster Clarifies the Dawn" for the provincial political cooperation, and the color ink painting "Eagle Spreading Wings" for the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
In 1980, he participated in the 5th Provincial Cultural Association and the 4th Provincial Political Consultative Conference, and was elected as the vice chairman of the Provincial Artists Association; made color ink paintings "Evening Fishing", "Cockfighting Picture", "Remote Mountain Ancient Temple", "Cat Chrysanthemum", etc.; reproduced color paintings Ink painting "Heroes and Beauty".
In the spring of 1981, the "Peng Youshan and Yanming Painting Exhibition" was held in the Auditorium of the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles; in August, the "Peng Youshan Painting Exhibition" was held in Guiyuan Temple, Hanyang; in December, he retired; he made the color ink painting "Long Xiao" (collected by the National Art Museum of China), and "Wild Mallard Picture", "Majestic Vision", "Little Chicken with Chrysanthemum" (collected by National Art Museum of China), "Moon Night in Bamboo Forest", and reproductions of color ink paintings "God of Nature", "Riding the Dragon Guanyin", etc.
In June 1982, he held a porcelain painting exhibition in Jingdezhen; in August, he held a personal painting exhibition in Zhejiang Cultural Hall in Hangzhou; in October, he held a personal painting exhibition in the antique branch of Shanghai Friendship Store.
In 1983, he made a long scroll of color and ink "Hundred Tigers", and "Shenzhou Lion Awakening", which was a copy of "The World of Great Harmony".
From May 19th to June 2nd, 1984, held a personal painting exhibition in the exhibition hall of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing; "Long Xiao" won the first prize of Jiangxi Excellent Literature and Art; participated in the "Jiangnan Mid-Autumn Festival Exhibition".
In 1985, he served as a member of the Fifth Jiangxi Provincial Political Consultative Conference and an honorary librarian of the Jiangxi Provincial Museum of Culture and History; in November, he held a personal exhibition at the Jiangsu Art Museum in Nanjing; the Jiangsu Art Museum collected a Chinese painting of a tiger; to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War Peace".
In the Spring Festival of 1986, Jiangxi TV broadcasted the feature film "The Spirit of Painting Tigers". In November, he was invited to stay at Hainan University in Haikou for a short period of time; he painted "Whistling in the Empty Valley", "Furong", "Two Tigers Fighting", "Heaven and Earth Righteousness" and so on.
In April 1987, a personal painting exhibition was held in the Guangzhou Art Museum; a Chinese painting tiger was collected by the Guangzhou Art Museum.

In the spring of 1989, he held a joint calligraphy and painting exhibition with Huang Tianbi in Guangzhou; in December, he held the "Peng Youshan Painting Exhibition" in the Hong Kong Cultural Hall.
In 1990, he painted "Picture of Qin and Harmony", "Majestic Wind Thousand Miles", "Budai Monk", "Eagle Spreading Wings", "Dharma Facing the Wall", "Visiting the Autumn Mountain", "Overlooking the Cliff" and so on.
In 1991, he was awarded the certificate of honor for 30 years of literary and artistic work; he was employed as a consultant of Jiangxi Painting and Calligraphy Academy;
In November 1992, he and his wife Huisheng visited Fengshuwu, Geyuan, Hengfeng, looking for the relics of the elder brother Youren's revolution; he painted "Tiger Roaring Picture" and "Five Blessings Picture".
In 1993, he was awarded the certificate of an expert with outstanding contributions issued by the State Council; he wrote "Zhuzhu Chicken", "Wake Up from a Big Dream", "Running Risks", "Great Vision" and so on.
In October 1995, the "Peng Youshan and Wu Huisheng Poetry, Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition" was held at the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles to commemorate the golden wedding.
In 1996, he received a letter of thanks from the Truman Library in the United States, and sent a color photo of "All People Celebrate Peace" presented in 1946.
In 1997, he participated in the Pen Club of Jiangxi Provincial Museum of Culture and History to celebrate the return of Hong Kong, and made "Red and White Plum Picture" impromptu; participated in the Pen Club of the Provincial Artists Association, and wrote "Celebrating the Return of Hong Kong, Happy the Reunion of Jinou", and wrote "Picture of Shenglan Zhuzhu", "Zouyu Picture", "All People Celebrate the Return of the People" to celebrate the return of Hong Kong; died of a heart attack at 1:15 am on August 16 in Jiangxi Hospital; held a grand memorial service on August 20.
